Facilities

Electronic:

My facility incorporates development and test equipment necessary to realise either simple or complex designs, including

  • Power supplies
  • Oscilloscopes
  • Test meters
  • Development systems for PIC / Cubloc / Propeller and others
  • C and other high-level programming software
  • Schematic creation / capture software
  • PCB layout software
  • Soldering stations
  • Office software
  • Video editing software (Vegas) for content creation
  • etc etc
Mechanical:

Some designs require mechanical aspects to be completely functional. Most electronics design companies will not be able to deal with mechanical issues in-house, however, in addition to the electronics facility I also operate a small-scale mechanical prototyping and manufacturing shop. This incorporates multiple machine tools, including

  • Bandsaws and scrollsaws
  • Manual lathe with 10" swing over bed and a 500mm capacity
  • 3-axis CNC mill with 400mm x 300mm x 85mm capacity
  • CNC and 3D design software
  • MIG and TIG welding equipment
  • Metal polishing
Although some requirements may be too large for this shop, many designs can nevertheless employ the manufacturing facility to reduce the cost of smaller scale projects where otherwise the mechanical aspects would have to be contracted out to a third party. Once a design has been prototyped, I can supply such things as standard G-code files to allow the mechanical aspects to be replicated on a larger scale.
